GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY SET FOR SHORELINE GATEWAY, MIXED-USE LUXURY APARTMENT TOWER IN DOWNTOWN LONG BEACH
Located at Ocean Blvd. and Alamitos Ave., “Shoreline Gateway” marks Phase 2 of one of the largest developments in Downtown Long Beach. At over 400 feet and 35-stories, upon completion Shoreline Gateway will be one of the tallest buildings in Long Beach.
(LONG BEACH, Calif.)–Co-developers Ledcor Properties Inc. and Anderson Pacific LLC, and with their partners Qualico and Lantower Residential, are pleased to announce the groundbreaking for Shoreline Gateway, a 35-story, mixed-use luxury apartment complex in Downtown Long Beach. Shoreline Gateway is the companion building to “The Current” –– the iconic 17-story, mixed-use, 223-unit luxury apartment tower on Ocean Blvd. in Downtown Long Beach. Shoreline Gateway is scheduled for completion in Q4 2021.
Elected leaders including Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia and Councilmember Jeannine Pearce will be in attendance at the Groundbreaking Ceremony on Oct. 4, 2018 at 1PM.
“This tower will be the tallest building in Long Beach and will add an icon to our skyline,” says Mayor Robert Garcia. “We’ve been waiting for this project and excited that it will bring over 300 new homes to Long Beach.”
“I welcome the Shoreline Gateway mixed use development project into Council District 2,” says Councilmember Jeannine Pearce. “This project is a beaming testament to the progress of our downtown development plan. The new housing opportunities and the new businesses along with a booming 10,000-square-foot plaza for our larger community will continue to reinvigorate Long Beach as a gem beach city while further advancing our beautiful city skyline.”
The highly-anticipated project will feature 315 ultra-luxury residential apartment homes, along with approximately 6,460 square feet of commercial space, five levels of subterranean parking, myriad amenities and community living spaces. Residents will enjoy a soaring community room on the 34th floor offering sweeping 180-degree panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the Downtown Long Beach skyline and Orange County. One level up, the 35th floor is home to a shimmering rooftop pool, spa and dining and entertainment deck. Additional entertainment space is found on the third floor, which features a dining and fire pit lounge overlooking the ocean, along with a large fitness center, pet spa and creativity studio. Shoreline Gateway will be connected to its sister property, “The Current”, via a 10,000-square-foot shared plaza activated with premium retail, resident amenities and world-class art by Jud Fine and Barbara McCarren, which reflects the city’s character. The tower will include a mix of studio, one-and-two-bedroom apartments ranging from 580 square feet to 2,480 square feet in size and two-story penthouses on levels 34 and 35.
“Since 2004, Anderson Pacific, LLC proposed a vision for this site which was enthusiastically shared by the community and the City of Long Beach. Overcoming the numerous challenges resulted in the construction of The Current beginning in 2014,” explains Jim Anderson, chief executive officer for Anderson Pacific, LLC. “At long last, we are beginning the truly iconic tower that has been envisioned all these years, that will become a bona fide gateway into Downtown Long Beach from the east, as well as a wonderful anchor to the East Village Arts District and surrounding community. We greatly appreciate the members of the community, the City, and our partners who have worked with us all these years to make this vision a reality.”
“The Current was a great success for us and the community, and we expect Shoreline Gateway to honor and greatly enhance that experience,” says Patrick Patterson, COO of Ledcor Properties, Inc.. “Once Shoreline Gateway is built it will complete the urban campus that was envisioned by planners and senior City officials more than a decade ago. It is gratifying to be here for the beginning of the end of that long process, to bring the vision into reality.”
The design team consists of Studioneleven (Design Architect), Carrier Johnson + Culture (Architect of Record), RELM (Landscape Architect), Englekirk (Structural Engineer), and C&V Consulting (Civil). Build Group is the General Contractor.
“There are many exciting developments underway in Downtown Long Beach and we see Shoreline Gateway as one of the city’s most significant,” says Rick Castillo, Principal, Carrier Johnson + Culture. “With the building reaching a height of nearly 400 feet, the implementation of iconic massing and building forms, the design contributes in a significant way to defining the skyline of the city. Shoreline Gateway addresses many of the qualities that are shaping Long Beach’s urban design goals by incorporating public plaza spaces, integration of mixed-use and resident open spaces near the street level. We are proud to be a part of the Shoreline Gateway team with Ledcor and Anderson Pacific and we look forward to contributing an amazing project that provides an exceptional living environment and enhances Long Beach as one of Southern California’s most vibrant communities.”
Shoreline Gateway is the first LEED-ND (Neighborhood Development) Gold project in the City of Long Beach, with its companion ower, The Current, which was the first LEED-NC (New Construction) Silver residential tower in Long Beach, built in 2016.
The Shoreline Gateway campus started in 2004 with a strong vision that the project would be a catalyst for the area––a walkable, iconic gateway to Downtown, with green and unique spaces, sensitive to the waterfront and environment. Over a decade in the making, The Current celebrated its grand opening in 2016, marking the first ground-up high-rise to be built in Long Beach since the Great Recession, and the first apartment tower to be developed in Long Beach since 1966. Today, as Downtown Long Beach continues its stunning renaissance, Shoreline Gateway is expected to be a major component in the city’s evolution and success.
