The project derived its name and design from the merging of two historic Ranchos, the terminus of Shoreline Drive, and its position as the east gateway into Downtown Long Beach. The design was carefully crafted within the context of the site and curated with community objectives, fulfilling the vision and importance of this iconic intersection of Long Beach – offering the last unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean in Downtown.
Shoreline Gateway completes a phased development that was conceived in 2004 – having survived the Great Recession and demise of the CA Redevelopment Agency – with the completion of the initial phase, The Current, in 2016. Shoreline Gateway will be a signature iconic waterfront tower designed in a modern ethic. As the tallest residential tower in the City, Shoreline Gateway will offer unparalleled 360-degree views of Long Beach, Catalina Island, Orange County and Downtown Los Angeles.
Shoreline Gateway is the first LEED-ND (Neighborhood Design) project in the City of Long Beach. Along with the initial phase of the campus – The Current (LEED-NC, Silver), Shoreline Gateway (LEED Certified) exhibits all the qualities of a sustainable living environment, offering fresh air intake, low-VOC materials, recycled content and myriad elements to enhance the living experience.

World class artist team Barbara McCarren and Jud Fine are commissioned to create an original art installation in the plaza.
Walkscore.com calls Shoreline Gateway’s location a “Walker’s Paradise” where daily life does not require a car. The project is one block away from a newly-built Vons grocery store; three blocks from the METRO Blue Line Station; directly across the street from the Beach; and within a 5-10 minute walk of every restaurant, bar, coffee shop, art gallery, and music venue that Downtown Long Beach has to offer.
